The Baker House was built by Senator David H. Baker around 1890, in the community of Orange Home. The home consists of a two story main house with porches on both floors and a separate two story kitchen house. Much of the main house is still original, from its beautiful wood floors, to the stained glass window on the second floor landing; it is a beautiful landmark in Sumter County. The house was donated to the City of Wildwood in September 2012. The City along with a team of volunteers through generous donations have been working on the restoration of the house.

In 2020, 2021 and 2022 we had the opportunity to volunteer our time and talents at the Baker House.

The foyer, landings and staircase area of the Baker House were decorated by our Club in a rendition of a Classic Southern Christmas.

We had chosen to decorate with natural, locally sourced items that we believe would have been used by the residents of this area in the late 1800’s. We incorporated native flora and Sea shells from Central Florida - magnolias, dried oranges, pine cones, cotton and greenery. We also accented the staircase with fabric, another item they would have had easily available. Lastly, we added simple butter cookies, hung by ribbons, which were probably used as treats on Christmas Day.

Below are a few photo's of our 2022, 2021 & 2022 Christmas decorations we provided
